SplitPie

Terms of use

Version 1 — last updated 11 August 2026. These Terms govern your use of the SplitPie mobile apps and website (splitpie.app). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms and our Privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use SplitPie.

The service

SplitPie helps people split shared expenses, settle balances, and track personal spending. Features may change, and some (for example Gmail statement sync) may be unavailable until third-party certifications complete. The product is free and ad-supported unless we clearly offer a paid option later.

Accounts

You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your country (and at least 13). One person or household should not create accounts solely to evade bans or abuse limits.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use SplitPie for unlawful activity, fraud, or money laundering
  • Harass, scam, or impersonate others in groups or invites
  • Upload malware, or attempt to probe, scrape, or overload our systems
  • Reverse engineer the apps except where local law allows
  • Misuse contacts matching, invites, or push notifications to spam people
  • Upload documents you have no right to process, or other people’s sensitive IDs without a lawful basis
  • Interfere with ads, attribution, or store review processes

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules or create risk for other users or the service.

Your content

You retain ownership of expenses, comments, receipts, and documents you submit. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, sync, process, and display that content as needed to run SplitPie (including showing shared expenses to group members you invite). You represent that you have the rights to submit that content.

Friends, groups & money

SplitPie calculates balances and settlements from the data you and your group enter. We are not a bank, payment processor, or lender. Settling up happens between people outside SplitPie unless we later integrate a payment partner under separate terms. Double-check amounts before you transfer money.

Imports & finance features

Statement uploads, Splitwise CSV import, and (when enabled) Gmail scanning are convenience tools. Parsing can miss or mis-categorize rows. You are responsible for reviewing imported transactions. Unlock hints you save are used only to attempt decrypting your password-protected statements as described in the Privacy policy.

Ads & third-party services

The free app shows ads. Third-party SDKs (ads, crash reporting, sign-in, push) are subject to their own terms. Google Sign-In and Gmail access, when used, are also subject to Google’s terms and policies.

Intellectual property

The SplitPie name, logos, and app software are ours or our licensors’. These Terms do not give you rights to our trademarks or source code beyond using the service as intended.

Disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that balances, imports, or sync will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SPLITPIE AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits; in those places our liability is limited to the fullest extent allowed.

Termination

You may stop using SplitPie at any time. We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms or if we shut down or materially change the service. Provisions that should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits) survive termination.

Changes

We may update these Terms. The date above will change. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. If you disagree, stop using the service and request account deletion.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in your country say otherwise. Courts in India have exclusive jurisdiction, again subject to mandatory local consumer rights.
